Ku Ding Tea
Also known as Fu Ding Tea or Gao Lu Tea, Ku Ding Tea is a traditional "half-tea" processed with the leaves of Kuding (Aquifoliaceae Ilex latifolia) tea-plants through the normal tea processing technique. Kuding tea-plants can be found in Guangdong, Fujian, Guangxi, Hainan, Zhejiang, Hunan and Jiangxi. Although known as a "half-tea," Ku Ding Tea's history as a traditional health drink is more than 2,000 years old. It was even revered as "tea of ceremonies" in the Han Dynasty. The tea has a fresh fragrance, bitter taste followed by sweet aftertaste, clean and yellowish-green liquid, mellow and strong taste and enduring brew. It can relieve heat, reduce inflammation, detoxify, prevent cardiac and diuretic diseases, control of high blood pressure and help weight loss.
Ku Ding Tea has two categories: large-leaf Ku Ding Tea processed with the leaves from the Ku Ding tea plants of arbor aquifoliaceae genus in the hollyllex family. The tea is made only from the singular spiral tea leaves; the other is small-leaf Ku Ding Tea processed from Ku Ding tea-plants belonging to the clusiaceae genus. The tea is fine, deep green, giving a jade green liquid. Its brewing is described as “verdant hills and green waters” or “beautiful hills and clear waters."
Brewing Ku Ding Tea is the same as other green tea varieties. The amount of dried tea is a half stick of large-leaf Ku Ding or 1-2g small-leaf Ku Ding for every 150ml water; steep for 1-2 minutes. Remember do not brew Ku Ding Tea in purple clay teapot, We recommend to brew it in ceramic teapots will be perfect.
